I’ve barely done any photographs in well over a month, the Miner (2) was the first set in all that time! Took my camera out last night and captured this scene in Trafalgar Square.
The tube station entrance is that to the Bakerloo Line’s Charing Cross station. In earlier days it was known as Trafalgar Square station. The name Charing Cross originally belonged to the District/Circle and Northern (Charing Cross Euston & Hampstead Railways.)
The changes came when the Jubilee Line opened to Charing Cross, and a subway was built to connect the Bakerloo to the Northern and Jubilee lines. The latter’s station closed in 1999 and the Jubilee Line now misses the Charing Cross/Trafalgar Square area by over a mile as it finds its way further south via Westminster and Waterloo.
